The Life of a Loved One
The Life of a Loved One was originally written in memory of a beloved family pet. Throughout the piece, the humble combination of strings and woman’s choir carries an angelic-like quality that conveys the feeling of loss. Yet, hints of warmness can be found in the solo horn which enhances the emotion of mournfulness yet brings a new sense of thankfulness to the piece. The Life of a Loved One offers a chorale fragment of remembrance for the gift God gave us as it slowly builds to one moment in commemoration of Rudy. 12-7-2019 to 12-1- 2021. When I came up with The Life of a Loved One, I did not rely on any musical idea for what I was going to write down. I only had a piano in front of me and the emotions I was experiencing at the time. I knew that however the piece turned out, it would accurately portray my feelings. When I played, the music truly came from my heart, and adding in the singular French horn seemed only natural to me.
