WILLIAM EBY

C O M P O S E R

William Eby is a 21-year-old composer studying at the Greatbatch School of Music in New York State. He has composed music for a wide range of ensembles, including solo, chamber, and large ensemble works. He also writes music using orchestral sampling, which he publishes online through streaming services and his website.

William’s compositional style is influenced by the cinematic qualities found in the works of contemporary film composers, as well as the profound depth of 19th-century romantic music.

Project highlights include “Rise Again,” which was premiered by the Houghton University Chamber Choir in April 2024 and was selected to be performed at the 2024 CFAMC Conference. Will’s piece The Life of a Loved One, was named Best Original Composition in the TI:ME 2022 Composition Festival, where Will was named an outstanding young composer. Will’s Piano Nocturne No. 1 and 2 were premiered by Steinway Artist Dr. William Newbrough at the Piano Studio Winter Recital at the Charles Finney School in Rochester.

Upcoming projects include music for wind ensemble, wedding songs, choral music, and orchestral programming.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of composing for a diverse array of musical ensembles, ranging from solo instruments and intimate chamber groups to the grandeur of a 20-piece orchestra. Each setting presents its own unique opportunities for creativity and expression, allowing me to continually expand and enrich my musical palette.

Solo Piano for Performance

Nocturnes for Solo Piano

One of my most cherished compositions is the set of Nocturnes for solo piano. These evocative pieces explore a range of human emotions, from tranquil beauty to tumultuous unrest, drawing inspiration from Chopin and Feild. The music aims to transport listeners to a contemplative realm and invites them on an introspective journey through expressive pianistic techniques.

The Nocturnes for piano show how music can express deep emotions and connect with people's hearts. I hope these pieces inspire and touch those who listen, giving a glimpse into the deepest parts of human feelings.

Chamber Music for Weddings

Composing Soulful Melodies for Unforgettable Moments

As a composer, crafting meaningful music for weddings is fulfilling. I tailor compositions for love and commitment using string duos or quartets. Each project honors the couple's journey and atmosphere. I explore the emotional potential of violins, violas, and cellos, carefully crafting each note to resonate with love and unity.

While creating music for weddings, I draw inspiration from the couples' personal narratives, infusing compositions with their love and hope. I collaborate closely with couples to create melodies that reflect their unique bond, resonating emotionally with everyone present.

Large Ensemble for Recording

Rehearsal and Recording Session Organization

As a composer, I use Finale to create precise orchestral scores, streamline rehearsals, and optimize recording sessions. Embracing Finale empowers me to meticulously notate intricate orchestral parts and ensure clear communication with musicians, resulting in cohesive and well-organized performances. My expertise in using Finale and conducting sessions elevates the impact of my orchestral works.
